About Kapusta Photography

For the last eleven years, Jason Kapusta has been covering breaking news and sporting events throughout Western and Central Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio.
Jason began his freelance career after earning a degree in Integrative Arts from Penn State University. After two years as a freelancer, he accepted a commercial position at Fanbuzz.com Inc., which utilized his talents for such organizations as the NHL, ESPN, Peanuts And Elvis Presley Enterprises, but he continued to freelance as time permitted.
"Having some experience working on the commercial side of photography has, in my opinion, helped my journalism work immensely. I find myself always looking for a new, fresh angle to shoot from, and I hope that the the people who see my photos enjoy that."
"The role of a photojournalist is to be a storyteller, and I feel that our work should help make our communities better. We have a responsibility to inform our readers about what is happening around them in a creative and ethical way, and we shouldn't take that responsibility lightly. I also believe that as photojournalists, we get paid not to show the community what they could see easily on their own, but what they couldn't see without us, and I strive to accomplish this on every assignment."
Currently, Mr. Kapusta lives with his wife, Molly, and son, Grady, in Hermitage, Pennsylvania and continues to develop his own personal style of photojournalism at The Herald. He is a member of SportsShooter.com and the National Press Photographers Association.
